Twenty20 Match to celebrate 150 years of Yorkshire County Cricket

It was 150 years ago when the world's most illustrious and successful County Cricket Club was officially formed, right here in Sheffield.

On 8th January 1863, at the Adelphi Hotel, Sheffield, Yorkshire County Cricket Club was born; and to celebrate the 'past and present' of Yorkshire Cricket, Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club will be hosting an historic Twenty20 match on Monday 2nd September 2013, at Abbeydale Sports Club. The purpose of the event is also to raise much needed funds for Junior Cricket Development at Sheffield Collegiate Cricket Club. The measure of their success in helping youngsters to achieve in the Cricket arena is evident with our latest England star 'Joe Root'. Sheffield Collegiate want to continue investing funds into Grassroots Cricket, and with your help, we may be able to produce another player that can make the step-up from Club Level to County Level and to the Test Match arena. Although, that is certainly the icing on the cake, importantly, cricket is a sport for all and we encourage children participation at all levels to keep children engaged, fit and healthy. On the day, the event promises to be a brilliant day for the families, local cricket clubs and local businesses to get involved. For Junior Cricketers, there will be Batting & Bowling Master classes in the nets provided by some of our Yorkshire cricketing legends and cricketing fun throughout the day for the children, delivered by 'Chance to Shine'. In order to raise the funds, we will be erecting a Yorkshire County Cricket Club corporate hospitality marquee, and local businesses throughout Yorkshire can get involved and support this superb cricketing day in the name of charity and junior cricket club development by booking a table of 10 within the marquee, which includes a 5 course lunch.
