UK Business Hero Award for Innovative Sheffield Communications Company

28th October 2020

Chamber member Counter Context has been awarded a prestigious UK Business Hero title by the British Chambers of Commerce for keeping the wheels of development turning during the coronavirus pandemic.

Counter Context, which has offices in Sheffield, London and Manchester, was nominated by Sheffield Chamber and this week received notification of the award and a letter of congratulations from HRH The Countess of Wessex.

The company, which counts some of the most transformative energy, property and transport schemes in the UK among its clients, pivoted the way it provides stakeholder engagement during the pandemic.

When face to face community consultation became impossible, the business, which employs 24 people, quickly embraced digital solutions moving consultations online and creating online exhibitions.

This enabled vital consultation processes to continue keeping schemes like the Sheringham and Dudgeon Extension Projects, a new offshore wind development being proposed by Equinor off the North Norfolk Coast, on course.

Harriet Knowles, Director, said: “Our priority was to quickly re-think our business so, on behalf of clients, we could continue to listen to communities, then respond and manage risks.

“This has meant that communities could remain engaged at a time when other sources of information were frozen. In turn, this has kept the UK economy turning, protecting jobs throughout the entire supply chain. We are thrilled that we’ve been recognised for going the extra mile for clients.”

The British Chambers of Commerce launched the campaign in October to recognise the incredible work that UK businesses are doing in the most challenging of years.

Harriet added: “It is a great honour to have received this recognition from HRH The Countess of Wessex, the British Chambers of Commerce, and Sheffield Chamber.”

The accolade is the second prestigious award Counter Context has won in the past month having recently been named one of the Top 20 PR Agencies in the North of England by research company Mustard.
