9th April 2021

Sheffield-based wholesaler, Pricecheck, is strengthening its senior team with an experienced hire to its board of directors.

Darren Goldney, MD of Doncaster’s Unitas, the UK’s largest wholesale services company, will join the fast-growing business in late April as Commercial Director.

The senior hire is a significant moment in Pricecheck’s growth plans and will act as the start of the company’s next phase of growth as it aims to achieve a £200m turnover within the next five years.

Debbie Harrison, Joint Managing Director (Trading) said: “Darren’s experience speaks for itself. We’ve enjoyed working with him at Unitas and now we are excited to welcome him to the Pricecheck team.

“His arrival showcases our confidence in the future of Pricecheck and Darren’s knowledge and understanding of branded supplier partnerships will be a crucial piece of our growth plan.”

Pricecheck recently announced a 50% increase in team numbers over the past 12 months, taking the total figure to 300 across its two sites. With investment to continue in infrastructure, technology and talent, Darren joins at a key moment in the company’s development.

Darren commented: “Pricecheck’s growth is one I’ve been following and supporting for a number of years and so I very much look forward to joining the team and playing my part in the journey. With the company’s ambition to double in size, it certainly looks a very attractive place to be for the future.

“My time at Unitas has provided unique and interesting insight into 160 businesses and Pricecheck has always been one of the many great businesses who stand out, by acting not just as a wholesaler, but as a distribution partner with a range of targeted added value capabilities.”

Goldney brings a wealth of varied industry experience having led the merger to form Unitas after joining Today’s Group in 2017. Previous to that, he had held key leadership roles at Coca-Cola, Whitworths and Palmer & Harvey.

Darren adds: “Right now I’m 100% dedicated to Unitas and its members, the work we have achieved over the years has been incredible. I love this channel and the hugely important role that independent wholesalers play. I’ll look forward to applying my knowledge of the market to create value for Pricecheck and its stakeholders.”

Pricecheck is an international distributor of fast-moving consumer goods, and is trusted by the world's biggest brands, offering more than 8,000 branded products to customers in the UK and to more than 80 countries globally through distribution agreements.
