Universal Office Products commits to helping businesses reduce their water usage

23rd April 2018

Wakefield-based Universal Office Products is following in the footsteps of food retail giants Waitrose and Iceland by encouraging businesses to look at their water footprint.

This renewed push comes as a wave of eco-friendly initiatives have been launched by major retailers as well as the government. Currently, the government has a target of reducing water consumption by 20% per person by 2030, and with 25% of overall water consumption originating from businesses, they will have a huge part to play in future water saving. Universal Office Products is encouraging business owners up and down the country to assess their water consumption using their dedicated usage calculator. This tool will enable companies to find out how much water they are using in order to use it sustainably. In addition to this online tool, Universal's pioneering water volumiser Oxyflow uses aeration technology to transfer the flow of water into a molecular spray. Increasing the surface area of the water reduces the volume needed to perform daily tasks by up to 90%. Oxyflow can also reduce overall energy consumption dramatically with the option for cold water only as well as hot/cold application. With water shortages an increasingly common occurrence across the globe, tools such as the water-usage calculator and the Oxyflow aeration product present a tangible solution for organisations looking to explore and examine their water footprint as they do their carbon footprint. Director, Steve Manley, says, -2.1 billion of us live in areas of water scarcity, and as populations rise, this figure will only increase. Businesses need to grasp the real world impact not only of their own water footprint, but also that of their entire supply chain. This awareness translates into action which will ultimately lead to tangible, sustainable change. For further information about soaked, call 0845 345 0061 or visit www.soakedonline.co.uk.
