Utility Alliance Yorkshire Pledges to Help Out Sheffield Based Charity
22nd May 2019
UTILITY Alliance Yorkshire has announced that Sheffield-based charity City Hearts will be its first ever nominated charity.
The business moved into office premises in September 2017, and since then has built up some excellent working relationships in and around the South Yorkshire area. Now, in a move which will further strengthen UA Yorkshire's presence within the community, City Hearts have been chosen as the first beneficiaries of the nominated charity status. The charity was set up in Hope City Church in Sheffield back in 2005 to help people who had been exploited through issues like modern slavery. Since then the charity has set up bases around the UK and has gone on to help thousands of victims through safe houses, advice and support as well as signposting them towards opportunities to get into working life. Phill Clayton, Head of Development for City Hearts, met up with UA Yorkshire Managing Director Dan Potter where a donation of £5,000 was handed over to officially launch the partnership. Phill said: -Utility Alliance has a heart to give back to the local communities they work in. -Their generous donation, ongoing fundraising and volunteering will help rebuild lives torn apart by modern slavery and life controlling issues. -The team's holistic and pragmatic approach to partnership is exemplary and we look forward to working closely with all of their staff in Sheffield. Dan Potter added: -We have been looking to set up a link with a local charity for some time now, but with so many worthy causes it is always difficult to come to a decision. -But having chatted with Phill and heard about how the charity was set up along with some of the harrowing stories of situations they have had to deal with, we were keen to get involved. -We have made an initial donation to City Hearts which will have a direct impact in the Sheffield area, and moving forward we plan to do various fundraising events in our office to raise further cash for them. -We will also be encouraging our staff to get involved with City Hearts through their various volunteering opportunities, so we're really looking forward to getting involved and hopefully making a difference.
