Wake Smith reinforces commitment to Sheffield amateur sport

24th November 2017

Sheffield-based solicitors Wake Smith has renewed its official shirt sponsorship of the men's and ladies' elite squads at the Sheffield University Bankers Hockey Club (SUBHC).

The elite squads at the club will wear the Wake Smith name on their shirts at games across Yorkshire, Cheshire, Lancashire and the North East this season as they push for promotions in the North Hockey Association Men's Premier League and North League respectively. This is the third year running Wake Smith, which offers legal expertise to businesses and individuals, has sponsored the club's shirts. Mark Serby, director at Wake Smith, said: -Sponsoring SUBHC is a natural fit for our company as we share the same values in terms of striving for excellence, developing young people and supporting the local community. We wish both squads the best of luck this season. SUBHC is one of the oldest and largest clubs in the North of England and came out of a merger of the University of Sheffield Men/Women's hockey clubs' Saturday teams and the well-established Sheffield Bankers Hockey Club in 1999. It now has more than 10 teams playing at a wide range of ability levels including seven men's XI, three ladies' squads, a junior squad and a veteran's side. Club chairman Ruaridh Stewart said: -We thank Wake Smith for their long term support of the club as every sponsor we attract and retain is critical to the club. The Wake Smith name will also appear on banners in the dug outs at the Goodwin pitches on Northumberland Road. From next year the club will start playing from the new University-funded pitches in Norton. For further information on Wake Smith visit www.wake-smith.co.uk or call 0114 266 6660.
