Westfield Health continues support for Transplant Games

7th December 2015

SHEFFIELD-based health insurance provider Westfield Health has been announced as the headline sponsor of the 2016 British Transplant Games in Liverpool.

The not-for-profit organisation has now been involved with the Transplant Games for the last nine years and the 2016 event marks the eighth time that Westfield has been the title sponsor. Hosted annually by the charity Transplant Sport (TS), the Games attract hundreds of athletes from across the UK all of whom have undergone a life saving transplant to compete in a variety of sporting events, from swimming and lawn bowls to running and volleyball. They are accompanied by members of their family, support personnel and coaches. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the importance of signing onto the NHS Organ Donor Register and to discuss one's wishes now with our families. Graham Moore, Westfield Health Chairman said: -The British Transplant Games is always an incredibly moving occasion. Each and every competitor has been on an amazing journey and to see them back to health and competing in sport is testament to the incredible value of organ donation. -We were delighted to support the 2015 Games in Newcastle which left a wonderful legacy, with the number of people on the donor register across Newcastle increasing. I'm sure Liverpool 2016 will be just as successful and we are delighted to help make the Games happen once again. -Westfield Health is committed to making a difference to communities throughout the UK and we are extremely proud to be continuing our support of the Games in 2016. Andy Eddy, TS Chairman said -We cannot thank Westfield Health enough for yet again being the platinum sponsor for the British Transplant Games. -This vital support means that TS, together with Westfield Health, can really make a difference across the UK, in promoting not only the benefits of transplantation through this sporting event, but also in raising awareness of the desperate need for more people to sign on to the NHS Organ Donor Register. The Games, which will take place from 28 31 July 2016 was launched at a prestigious ceremony at the ACC Liverpool, on Monday 30 November 2015.
