Weston Park Cancer Charity appoint Steve Timmins as Business Development Manager

23rd October 2023

Weston Park Cancer Charity is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Timmins as Business Development Manager.

Bringing more than 35 years of business development experience to the role, Steve’s main responsibilities will see him develop the charity’s corporate and individual partnerships as well as working across Weston Park’s events and fundraising team to increase fundraising and awareness activities.

With a career based around active communications and building positive commercial relationships within business development and sales and marketing, Steve has worked across a vast range of industries including music, sport, leisure, and education.

Steve joins the charity after several personal experiences with cancer. He said: “When I heard about the opportunity to join Weston Park Cancer Charity, I was immediately very interested to be part of such an amazing team of professionals who deliver such an incredible service to people across the region.

“To be able to be part of a team which gives back, supports, provides guidance and therapies is very rewarding.

“To be part of an organisation that funds clinical trials and research for people who are directly affected by cancer and provide support for their families, friends, and colleagues was an opportunity that I really wanted to be a part of.”

Steve shares his personal experience of dealing with cancer. He said: “Like 50 per cent of the UK population, my life has been affected by cancer in personal terms. I sadly lost both my parents to cancer and two of my siblings have also been diagnosed with it. Many of my friends have also been affected.

“Cancer has such a huge impact on so many people, affecting their lives in numerous ways but equally that of their family, friends and colleagues too.

“To be part of an organisation that helps, supports, advises, benefits, comforts, guides, and is simply there for people at such a critical time in their lives is so very rewarding, gratifying, and hugely personally fulfilling for me.”

Steve praised the Weston Park Cancer Charity: “The whole team is so very positive, professional, passionate, driven, empathetic, friendly, welcoming, attentive and helpful that I feel very blessed to be part of the team.”

Commenting on his new role he said: “My experience in engaging with a range of people and organisations over the years has ensured my relationships with clients are based on trust, integrity, and honesty. All of these elements will be crucial in my new role as Business Development Manager at Weston Park Cancer Charity.”
