Whirlow Week - 15th May - 21st May 2016 About the Farm Whirlow Hall Farm is a fully-functioning working farm spanning 138 acres with a variety of livestock and growing spaces, including: A flock of approximately 189 sheep that produce around 300 lambs a year.

A high welfare, intensive pig unit housing 20 breeding sows and a boar. A mixed herd of beef cows including Aberdeen Angus, Shorthorns and Galloways. A poultry unit with 300 free-range hens kept for egg laying. Seasonally reared free-range turkeys for sale at Christmas. 3 ponies and a livery arrangement providing space for 3 additional horses. 5 goats and a number of rabbits and guinea pigs kept as pets for educational purposes. Seasonal vegetables and soft fruit are all grown in the fields. Diverse horticultural areas including polytunnels and a vineyard. Funding and Fundraising The farm trust receives a small amount of funding through Sheffield City Council. In addition, there is income from charges for educational visits and farm shop sales. The fundraising team has the enormous task of raising over £300,000 each year through a variety of events, corporate sponsorship, community fundraising and grant applications in order to balance the books.
