Whirlowbrook Park Cafe has Re-Opened

7th August 2014

Saxon Hotels Ltd have re-opened a Café in the grounds of Whirlowbrook Park after it was closed in October 2012.

Saxon Hotels Ltd have owned Best Western Plus Mosborough Hall Hotel since 2004, and in June 2013 re-opened Whirlowbrook Hall in Sheffield's S11. Since the re-opening, the venue won Weddingdates.co.uk, South Yorkshire Wedding Venue of the year for 2013 and was shortlisted for an outstanding achievement in hospitality at the Sheffield business awards. Saxon Hotels Ltd agreed with Sheffield City Council to work together to provide a new café located within the park by summer 2014. Planning permission for a new café in the park was approved on 8th July. Whilst plans are finalised for the building of the new café a temporary cafe has been re-opened. The café will be open 7 days a week, 10.00am until 4.00pm throughout the holidays and weekends thereafter. Visitors will be able to purchase, hot and cold drinks, Panini's, sandwiches, cakes and confectionary items. There will also be gluten free options available. Paul Brown director of Saxon Hotels Ltd said; -I am delighted that planning permission has been approved for the new Whirlowbrook Park Café. I am also really pleased that we have been able to agree a temporary solution in the meantime to ensure visitors to the park can get refreshments this summer.   Cllr Isobel Bowler, the Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Leisure commented, -I'm delighted that a new cafe facility is to be opened, particularly because park users have been requesting this.  I wish the new venture every success. The company plan to begin the build of the new structure in the early months of 2015, and to have the grand opening by Easter 2015. The Whirlowbrook Park Café will then be open throughout the year.
