Who is the fittest business of them all?

16th November 2015

Businesses from across the Sheffield City Region are being encouraged to don their sports gear and go head to head against other companies from the area in a unique fitness challenge.

Fitness Unlimited is inviting local businesses to take part in its Corporate Active Challenge, which will see them in fitness activities in the newly refurbished gym at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. The free challenge, which will take place on Thursday 19 November, will involve a team of up to four people taking part in one hour of fitness activity during a pre-allocated time slot between 7am and 7pm, allowing them to try the latest fitness equipment. The Fitness Unlimited gym has expanded to make space for the new kit and enable more people to exercise thanks to a major investment by Sheffield City Trust, which manages Ponds Forge, and Sheffield City Council. The gym has been kitted out with ultra-modern technology, including a Wellness System and MyWellness Cloud equipment to track fitness development, Technogym apparatus and the dynamic, pressure-sensitive lighting and sound Prama system which brings the gym's floors and walls to life to create an energetic and motivating atmosphere. The gym's new spinning studio also means it is one of the first gyms in the country with Technogym bikes. The winning team of the Corporate Active Challenge will be awarded with four Fitness Unlimited three month memberships, four MyZone belts, a fitness tracker device and a free t-shirt. Companies already signed up to take part include Sheffield United, HR Media, Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Star. Ayesha Mir, group exercise manager at Fitness Unlimited, said: -We wanted to organise an event that not only gave people the opportunity to come along and try our brand new, state-of-the-art gym, but that also acted as a great team building exercise for businesses and as a way to encourage colleagues to get more active. -This sort of event also really brings out the competitiveness in people, so it will be great to see companies battling it out for the title of the fittest business in Sheffield!
