Whyy? Change Highly Commended at South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards

31st May 2024

South Yorkshire’s leading apprenticeship training provider, Whyy? Change, has been highly commended at the South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards.

Whyy? Change, based at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in Rotherham, received the highly commended award for Training Provider of the Year at the Magna Science Adventure Centre.

Rotherham’s highest-rated independent training provider fought off stiff competition to make the category's final shortlist of just three training providers, before being named as highly commended by a panel of judges.

In addition, two of its outstanding apprentices scooped awards at the event, with five employers whom Whyy? Change support shortlisted, two of those employers winning their individual category awards on 23rd May 2024.

Whyy? Change’s success comes after being previously shortlisted on three occasions for the prestigious title of Training Provider of the Year and narrowly missing out this year. This time around, Whyy? Change went one step further, scooping the highly commended accolade, with aspirations of securing the title in 2025.

The award celebrates those who provide the training and development elements of an apprenticeship programme and was presented by Jordan Williams, former X Factor star and actor who now serves as a warm-up presenter for Davina McCall.

The awards celebrate innovation and the excellence of apprentices across more than 14 categories, designed to honour the exceptional apprenticeship network flourishing across the South Yorkshire region.

Emma Harrison, Managing Director of Whyy? Change, shared her delight on being highly commended:

“I’m thrilled that Whyy? Change has been highly commended as it demonstrates the level of quality and consistency that we have adopted and maintained year on year. It’s so rewarding to see our apprentices recognised and win in their relevant categories. Without our valued partners, exceptional apprentices and our talented team, this wouldn’t be possible.”

Amy Webster of Oliver King Consulting Ltd won South Yorkshire’s Professional Services Apprentice of the Year award, her employer said:

“So pleased that there was a highly commended mention for Whyy? Change in recognition of the support that you're providing to local companies with regards to Apprenticeships! You have been our training provider of choice for professional HR and Marketing courses and we'll continue our partnership into 2025.”

The annual South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony’s headline sponsor was Sheffield Forgemasters and the nominations were judged by Nicola Childs, Head of People Development at Sheffield Forgemasters, Bradley Longford, Graduate Business Development Manager at Henry Boot Construction and Keith Richardson, Hub Manager at South Yorkshire Apprenticeship Hub.
