Win cash and raise cash in local charity’s monthly draw

Sheffield Mencap & Gateway is offering local businesses the chance to win a monthly jackpot, whilst supporting the learning disability charity’s fundraising efforts in its 70th Anniversary year.

You can enter the monthly Jubilee Draw as an individual, or as part of a group. A £5 monthly donation buys one number in the draw, so if a group of five employees join together, their £25 will buy five numbers – and that’s five chances to win.

Three numbers are drawn each month, with a first and two second place spots up for grabs. Half of the total money raised makes up the jackpot, and the other half is donated to Sheffield Mencap & Gateway’s 70th Anniversary fundraising campaign.

As more people sign up to the Jubilee Draw, the monthly jackpot will grow and there will be more money to win. Vicky Toogood, Sheffield Mencap & Gateway’s Fundraising Manager, explains why the monthly draw is perfect for businesses to get involved in:

“It’s nice to share a little bit of excitement with colleagues and what could be better than a win to end the working week with? We always do the draw on the last Friday of the month so, as we start to get back to normal, it could buy a round of drinks after work – or everyone can take their share for the weekend.

“Above all, it’s a really easy and straightforward way to support our local charity during our 70th Anniversary year. We support around 600 people in Sheffield with learning disabilities and autism, and their families too. Every penny raised goes into our services and the facilities available at Norfolk Lodge. This year, we’re hoping we can raise enough to transform our much-loved Snoozelen room.”

Every business that enters the draw will be promoted on Sheffield Mencap & Gateway’s social media channels and if you win, you’ll get a shout out then, too.

To find out more about the Jubilee Draw you can watch this video introduction from Vicky, and you can sign up here. For more details, please email vickytoogood@sheffieldmencap.org.uk.

The charity is also fundraising through its ‘Sponsor me for 70’ campaign, in which members and their families, volunteers, staff, and members of the public are taking on individual and group challenges – all with a ’70’ theme. One staff member is doing a gruelling Tribe workout every day for 70 days, others are taking on running and walking challenges, one member is taking to the decks at Sheffield Mencap and playing 70 songs in a day, and a volunteer performed a medley of 70 songs live on Facebook, raising over £575.
