Winners boost city growth prospects

-It was about taking part, winning and raising the profile of Sheffield to stimulate growth in 2014.

That was the message from John Bills, Managing Director of Sheffield Newspapers, to the city's top companies at the Sheffield Business Awards on the 5th December. The joint event by The Sheffield Chamber and The Star Newspaper was attended by hundreds of people at Ponds Forge International Sports centre. The glittering event was hosted by ex-Blue Peter presented Gethin Jones who delivered the names of the winners of the 15 categories to the excited crowd. Stephen Williams, President of The Sheffield Chamber said -we are delighted to see so many of you here tonight to celebrate business success in our region. Many attendees at the event said it was -the best awards yet as they were treated to entertainment from rap duo Abandoman, and music by live band Got It Covered. Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley Next Big Thing Award - Swellaway medical device technology. Sheffield International Venues Outstanding Achievements in Sports, Hospitality & Tourism Award - 2013 Westfield Health British Transplant Games.
