Woman of air supports women of steel!
10th December 2013
Rotherham businesswoman Lisa Pogson was so touched by the story of the wartime -Women of Steel, that she has helped organise -Sparkle and Steel, a Christmas networking lunch fundraiser on 13 December at Rotherham's Carlton Park Hotel.
The event will raise money for the planned life size bronze commemorative statue, to be placed at the main site of the devastating Sheffield Blitz, outside the City Hall. Lisa Pogson has been described as a woman of steel herself. From an office administration YTS to a Masters in resource management and directorship at leading Rotherham air conditioning and heating company Airmaster, Lisa juggles her work and family responsibilities with her role as a key member of the Women in Business group, part of the Barnsley Rotherham Chamber. -We are so excited exclaims Lisa. -All four Women of Steel are planning to be there - you may have seen them on the TV promoting the fantastic fundraising concert recently. I personally cannot wait to hear these inspiring women now in their 80s and 90s, share their amazing and courageous experiences from their time in the factories and talk to us about what the appeal really means to them. We are planning to have a Sparkle & Steel Christmas hamper as part of the raffle prizes, as well as some signed books, including Kate Adie's latest book about ladies in the war. Guest speaker is Sue Wright, director at Diamond Dispersions. Sue spends a third of the year travelling as one half of the brains behind Diamond Dispersions, one of Sheffield's fastest growing manufacturing and global export businesses. A Queen's Award for Enterprise International Trade winner last year, 2013 has been the company's most successful to date. There are only 15 tickets left for this popular three-course lunch on 13 December 11.30-2.30 at Rotherham's Carlton Park Hotel at £15.95 + VAT for Chamber members and £19.95 + VAT for Non-members. Book by email events@brchamber.co.uk or on the website www.brchamber.co.uk/events Businesses or individuals who would like to donate to the appeal can do so by using the Women of Steel just giving page - www.justgiving.com/womenofsteel.
