Workshop will equip trustees with insights into good governance
23rd January 2017
hlw Keeble Hawson is hosting a morning workshop in Leeds on February 14 to advise charity board trustees on good governance.
The free Good Governance Workshop, held at the firm's offices in Capitol House, Russell Street, will examine the role of trustees in good governance and cover three key themes - the makeup of a board of trustees; trustee responsibilities; and choosing the right charitable structure. Held in conjunction with the Small Charities Coalition, the session will be led by hlw Keeble Hawson partner and charity expert, Michele Todd. A legal trustee of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity from 2010-2015, Michele is also a board member of independent residential care home, Taptonholme. Michelle said: -As charities face increasing scrutiny, ensuring effective governance has taken on an unprecedented importance for trustees. Our workshop will enhance their understanding of whether they are eligible to be on the board, what is expected of them, legal compliance - and the possible personal liabilities of getting it wrong. The workshop runs from 8:30am-11am, with breakfast available before the 9:00am start and a questions and answer session. To reserve a place, email simongorman@hlwkeeblehawson.co.uk
