WorkWell is a new service that’s supporting people with health conditions to find, stay or return to work. South Yorkshire Housing Association is providing the service in partnership with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA).

Could your workplace benefit from support for employees to stay well in work?

WorkWell offers support for people with a physical or mental health condition, or disability. It's a free service that can help your employees to stay well in work. We'll work with employees to build on their strengths, and to feel settled and flourish in their role.

WorkWell is for employees who:

  • have a physical/mental health condition or disability
  • are aged 16 and over
  • live or work in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham or Sheffield
  • are working and want support to continue working, or
  • are off work sick, and want to return to work.

What support will employees receive?

  • One-to-one support to continue working and manage their health condition at work
  • Collaborating with their existing health care team
  • Debt and benefit support
  • Access to a Health at Work Coach
  • Help talking to their employer about their needs at work
  • Flexible sessions including meeting in-person or over the phone
  • Signposting to other support services.

How can your business benefit from WorkWell?

  • We are working with HR/OH teams across the region to assist businesses in supporting members of their workforce to stay well in work
  • We have great links with local VCSEs who can offer training to businesses and in turn, we support individuals to stay well in work
  • We signpost individuals referred to access support local to them
  • We share self-management tools and resources to support wellness
  • We provide early intervention to prevent long term absences
  • Our Health at Work Coaches can support line managers to develop and implement wellbeing strategies in collaboration with your employee
  • We support inclusive workplace policies such as flexible working arrangements and reasonable adjustments
  • We support businesses to foster a culture of open communication

Ruth has been supported by her employment specialist, to return to the childcare role she loves. She said:
