Yorkshire Airport Takes To The Stage With Sheffield Theatres

9th April 2014

A Yorkshire airport has teamed up with Sheffield Theatres to promote a new aviation themed play which is set to take centre stage this May.

Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield has partnered up with Thomson to sponsor the production of Boeing Boeing which takes to the Crucible stage from Thursday 15 May to Saturday 7 June. Boeing Boeing is a hilarious comedy by Marc Camoletti that sees bachelor Bernard in a dilemma when his air hostess fiancée turns up at his apartment on an unscheduled stopover unaware that his other two girlfriends have had the same idea. As all three women prepare for a night with their husbandtobe, can Bernard stop his beautifully designed love life from coming to a sticky end? Jonathan Humphreys, who previously directed Happy Days and The Village Bike at the theatre, returns to Sheffield to direct this hilarious farce on the Crucible stage. Steve Gill, managing director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: -We are delighted to be working with our partners Thomson to support our local theatres. Sheffield Theatres has a fantastic reputation of putting on excellent performances and we are sure that Yorkshire audiences will come along and support Boeing Boeing. -As a regional airport we are developing key strategic partnerships with local organisations and the theme of this production, albeit tongue in cheek, gave us a great reason to work with Sheffield Theatres. Dan Bates, Chief Executive of Sheffield Theatres. said: -Our partnerships with the local business community are vital to us, and we're really excited to be working with Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield and Thomson on our production of Boeing Boeing. -There's a very obvious connection with the aviation theme in the play, but this partnership is also about promoting what our region has to offer on a local, national and international level. Boeing Boeing is on stage at the Crucible Theatre from Thursday 15 May until Saturday 7 June. Tickets are on sale now, priced from £10 - £23 and are available from Sheffield Theatres' Box Office on 0114 249 6000 or online at sheffieldtheatres.co.uk. (A transaction fee of £1.50 (£1.00 online) applies to all bookings made at the Box Office excluding cash).
