Young carers receive welcome boost from Westfield Health

26th June 2013

Sheffield Young Carers were delighted to receive a fantastic cheque worth £200.

00 from Westfield Health this week. The donation was made in response to their joint team entry with Sheffield Chamber of Commerce into the Sheffield Half Marathon 2013. Seven runners entered the 13.1 mile race earlier this year, with individual finishing times ranging from two hours and 19 minutes down to an impressive one hour and 36 minutes - in the case of Jon Stewart. As well as helping to raise the charity's profile, the event raised an incredible £1,769.00 for young carers all over Sheffield a figure which has now leapt to just under £2,000, thanks to Westfield Health. George Fullerton (pictured here with David Hester from Westfield Health) said: -I've worked closely with Sheffield Young Carers this year and I know just how much donations like this mean to them. -The young carers the charity supports are amazing young people. They give so much of their time to help their families and they miss out on a great deal as a result. -The charity relies on the financial support of the community (which includes Chamber members like Westfield Health) to be able to keep offering young carers the support, advice and respite they so clearly need. -It's just great to see Sheffield Young Carers' fundraising total get a boost like this, all thanks to Westfield Health.
