Zest Centre Launches 10k Swimming Challenge

Fifty customers and staff from a healthy living centre will take part in a swimming challenge to mark the 10th birthday of the centre.

Launching today (Monday 5th May) the Zest Swimming Challenge aims to encourage participants to swim 10k in a month either individually or in teams.  They will also be raising funds through sponsorship for Zest's activities for local children. 2014 is the Zest Centre's 10th anniversary year as a healthy living centre.  To celebrate Zest aims to raise £30,000 to get more children than ever active through their programmes of low cost sports and after school activities. People who have signed up for the challenge include members of the Disabled and Able Bodied Swimming Club (pictured) who swim at the Zest Centre twice a week. Zest is a social enterprise which manages the innovative Zest Centre a healthy living hub housing a swimming pool, gym, exercise studio, community cafe, plus a public library, advice service and IT drop in. Janet Skirrow, Chief Executive of Zest said; -We are excited about this challenge.  It gives us the chance to promote the benefits of swimming through engaging with people of all ages and abilities.  It also gives us a chance to have some fun and raise vital funds for our activities for children and young people in this the Zest Centre's 10th anniversary year.
