Health and Wellbeing for the Working Age Population

By Sheffield Chamber of Commerce

Sheffield Chamber is promoting best practice in Health & Wellbeing in the workplace to help support healthy, productive working lives

Our goal: Ensure a healthy, supported working-age population to strengthen productivity and resilience.

Why this matters

Good health and wellbeing underpin workforce participation and performance. Gaps in health outcomes directly impact employment opportunities and business costs.

Our priorities:

 Promote workplace wellbeing best practice

Scale chamber-led initiatives providing mental health, physical wellbeing and resilience training, especially tailored for SMEs where HR capacity is limited.

 Improve access to occupational health

Advocate for policies and incentives that help SMEs access occupational health support to reduce sickness absence, support retention, and enhance quality of working life.

 Partner for preventative workforce health

Work with the Sheffield Joint Health and Wellbeing Board and public health partners to integrate prevention and early-intervention programmes that keep working-age people engaged in employment.
