Export Documentation Course

As part of the Global Trade Skills Programme we are adding a new workshop

Course Overview:

The correct export documentation is essential for the successful movement of goods from the UK to international customers. From the generation of the commercial invoice and packing list to customs clearance in the target market, the paperwork and master data provided by you, the exporter, is critical. Getting this wrong can lead to delays, penalties, problems with payment and unhappy hauliers and customers. Furthermore, your company may incur additional charges which erode profit margins.

Many businesses do not fully understand the documentation they need to provide for their global shipments, including those between the UK and EU. Customs clearance is mandatory. Do you know the different types of documentation that may be needed – and why? Do you understand the difference between preference and non-preference documents – and the legal implications of issuing these? Do you know which export documents you are required to keep to satisfy an HMRC audit?

Content:

  • The Export Process – and why we need documentation
  • Key terminology
  • Commercial documents
  • Transport documents
  • Compliance/conformity documents
  • The export customs declaration

Benefits:

During this course delegates will learn about the different commercial, transport and compliance documentation for international shipments, why these are needed and the application process. They will leave with an understanding of how to fulfil customer requirements with confidence and how to approach the record keeping process in-house.

This course is suitable for staff within an organisation that have a responsibility for negotiating business in overseas markets and/or processing export orders. Sales, logistics and purchasing staff will all benefit from understanding the significance of the different types of export documentation.
