Magna are having a special VIP event to launch their South Yorkshire Arts carnival which is taking place in the summer.

Local businesses, councillors, dignitaries including mayors, and tourism representatives have been invited to the event on Thursday evening (January 14th). It will feature an outline of what is coming up in the summer and a number of carnival acts, including a steel band will perform. The South Yorkshire Carnival Arts Regional Festival (SYCARF) will take place from Friday 15 July to Saturday 30 July and will include a carnival fashion show, comedy festival and food festival across the two weeks. It is also set to include dance and theatre shows, exhibitions, workshops, a jazz evening, live DJs and much more. The fortnight of events is being organised in collaboration with Debora Alleyne De Gazon, creative director of London's Notting Hill Carnival. John Silker, chief executive of Magna trust, said: -We're excited to have a special VIP night to launch our summer carnival. -With the planning of the festival now into full throttle, things are starting to happen already and before we know it the festival will be upon us. Hopefully it's going to be an annual event on the calendar. Magna is also encouraging local school, community and dance groups to get in touch to find out how they can be involved. The venue is also looking for local businesses to get involved in sponsorship opportunities. To find out more, please contact the Magna events team on 01709 723 118. The venue, which is housed in the former Templeborough steelworks near junction 34 of the M1, has space that can be hired to cater up to 5,000 people. Magna is also an award-winning visitor attraction with more than 100 hands-on exhibits designed to explore the four elements of air, water, earth and fire. It also hosts regular school trips.
